Haha. Yes, it only took me about 7 hours!
This is Reverend Kane, that creeeeepy guy from that movie, Poltergeist 2. My co-worker and good friend, Aaron, requested for me to draw a caricature of him. I was looking at actual photos of the guy and thought, "Hell, this dude pretty much is already a living caricature... If I were to draw him all cartoony, then no one would get it." So I didn't. Instead, I just took what he got and intensified the value... with a ball point pen. Yes, the entire thing is ball point pen. Took concentration, but it's worth it. I haven't done a good ball point piece in forever! Besides, I wanted to challenge myself a bit because it also applies to tattooing. The technique is similar, such as the ability to gain strict control over the pen/machine to apply just the right pressure in just the right spots. After all, if Aaron likes what I've done with his idea he'll let me actually tattoo it on him!!! So I figured, "... I could really use the practice." I'm stoked, and I hope he loves it!!!  .......... Oh, WOW. I hadn't realized how shitty my scanner is. Trust me, it's not showing half the detail that was placed in this.... Heh. And here I was, thinking it was my art all along. whew |
